MOTTO
The colorway is very important to me when I paint. I love to combine as many colors as possible at the same time. Contrasts like strong colors versus bright pastels, plain versus structured and dark versus bright, in a cubistic, skewed and dreamy way.

Maria's acrylic paintings are often inspired by cities and buildings or drawn directly from her imagination. She frequently works in many thin layers. During the painting process, she tries not to overthink and instead lets the colors flow and shape themselves freely. It is in the later stages of the process that Maria tidies up and molds the motif into its final form.
For Maria, painting aquarelle is often a relaxing and tranquil process. When she travels, Maria typically packs her colors and makes an effort to take time to paint wherever she is. The motifs often take on a slightly different quality, and the color combinations result in new blends, giving the artwork a fresh expression.
Creating collages is like solving a puzzle and constructing for Maria. She cuts shapes from hand-painted paper, which are then glued together to form a composition or a motif. The subjects can, for example, be inspired by a house she encountered during a journey or a bouquet of flowers gathered from her garden.
In Marias atelier in Sävedalen, she paints the majority of her artworks. She also hosts exhibitions and occasionally organizes workshops or events. If you wish to visit, you can book a time via email at info@tavelhus.se.
